After the wonderful Medusa Head, we were impressed by the other pieces in the shop too. We bought four ceramic objects as gifts for family members here in France. The result was simply exceptional: everyone was delighted, astonished by the quality, the attention to detail and the beauty of every piece. The two Moor’s Heads with pure gold inlay are marvellous, elegant and refined, with impeccable finishing and magnificent colours, while the Trinacria with Medusa perfectly represents the history and identity of Sicily. A beautiful fish and an owl completed the gifts. Every creation conveys the passion and authenticity of Caltagirone craftsmanship. Once again we would like to compliment Alessandra, always helpful, kind and professional, who accommodated every request. The packaging was, as always, impeccable: every object travelled by plane and arrived in France in perfect condition. Wonderful place. We got a whole tour of the whole production, met the whole staff that makes the ceramics. This despite us showing up at the production site on a Thursday without any kind of booking. Afterwards we went to the showroom which showcased a greater variety of ceramic goods but seeing the production was the highlight. The ceramic goods are of high quality and much, much more value for money than the ones you might find in tourist traps in Catania or Taormina.

We admired the simple elegance of their ceramics at a recent stay at a hotel in Sicily and visited their showroom in Caltagirone. Something to remember the wonderful hospitality and beauty of a place that is truly remarkable in its beauty of land, people and culture.

My wife and I visited the showroom, where art ceramics with original shapes and unique decorations are on display. We were welcomed by Alessandra, who with her competence and kindness helped us choose a very beautiful and refined ornamental lamp, which we then ordered remotely with a service looked after by Alessandra herself. The timescales for production and delivery to the shop were met precisely. As you can see from the photo, the lamp has been placed in the living room, adding a touch of elegance to the room.

I was in Caltagirone at the end of November and went into the Ceramiche Sofia shop just as the coach was leaving, so I could not complete the purchase. Once home, I got in touch pointing out the two plates I wanted to buy and they were extremely kind in suggesting pieces I might like. Ceramiche di Sofia in Caltagirone, as well as offering a very wide choice of typical products, particularly beautiful and in many sizes and prices, has shown in my experience that it employs people who are especially attentive to customer satisfaction. Many years ago I was given a Moor’s head (the woman). Much later I discovered it came from this shop. Last December, during the nativity scene season, I was in Caltagirone. Walking through the town centre I found the shop. I showed the assistant the head I owned. Wanting the male one to make the pair, I ordered it with a light face rather than a dark one. They make them to order. So I paid and had it shipped straight home. Deliveries slow down over Christmas, but today it arrived. I must compliment the assistant because she was extremely kind and helped me choose two smaller Moor’s heads which I gave as gifts. Compliments also for the packaging: the head was wrapped in paper, then boxed, and that box placed inside another full of polystyrene, with reinforced corners. I will certainly buy again.
