Privacy Policy

Last updated: 18 October 2026

This policy explains what personal data is processed when you visit ceramichesiciliane.shop, why, and what rights you have. We have tried to keep it short and plain.

1. Who we are

This website is run by Sofia La Maiolica Calatina SNC (Ceramiche Sofia), Via Balchino 16bis, 95041 Caltagirone (CT), Italy, VAT number IT04489040875. We are the data controller for the personal data described here.

You can reach us at info@ceramichesofia.it or by phone on +39 0933 335277.

2. What this website does, and what it does not

ceramichesiciliane.shop presents our workshop in Caltagirone and our handmade ceramics. It has no online shop, no customer accounts, no contact forms and no newsletter sign-up, so we do not ask you to type in any personal data here.

When you choose to buy, you are taken to our store italianpottery.us or, for some pieces, to Artemest. Those websites collect the data needed for your order and have their own privacy policies (see section 6).

3. The data we process and why

Technical data needed to show you the website

Like every website, our servers record some technical information each time a page is requested: your IP address, the date and time, the page requested, your browser and device type and the page you came from. We need this to deliver the website, keep it secure and fix errors. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in running a safe and working website (Article 6(1)(f) GDPR). These logs are kept by our hosting provider for a limited period and then deleted.

Visit statistics, only if you agree

If you accept statistics cookies in the cookie banner, we use Google Analytics 4 to understand how the website is used: which pages are visited, for how long, from which country or city, with which type of device and browser, and how visitors found us. Google Analytics 4 does not log or store IP addresses. We use these figures only in aggregate, to improve the website.

The legal basis is your consent (Article 6(1)(a) GDPR). If you do not accept, Google Analytics is not loaded. You can change your choice at any time with the Manage consent link at the bottom of every page. Statistics data is kept for no longer than 14 months.

Your cookie choices

Your choice in the cookie banner is saved in small cookies on your device, so that we do not ask you again on every page. The full list of cookies, with their duration, is in our Cookie Policy. The legal basis is our legal obligation to ask for and respect your consent.

When you write to us or call us

If you contact us by email, phone or through our social media pages, we use your name, your contact details and whatever you tell us to answer you. The legal basis is taking steps at your request before a possible order (Article 6(1)(b) GDPR) or our legitimate interest in replying to messages. We keep this correspondence for as long as it is needed to deal with your request. If it leads to an order, the related records are kept for the period required by Italian tax law, currently ten years.

4. Who else handles the data

We do not sell personal data and we do not use it for advertising. Only these providers process data on our behalf:

  • Hostinger International Ltd (Cyprus, EU): hosting of the website and its content delivery network.
  • Google Ireland Limited and Google LLC (United States): Google Analytics, only with your consent. See Google’s privacy policy.

5. Data transfers outside the European Union

Google Analytics data may be transferred to the United States. Google LLC is certified under the EU-U.S. Data Privacy Framework, which the European Commission has recognised as giving an adequate level of protection. Our hosting provider stores the website within the European Union.

6. Links to other websites

Our pages link to other websites, which have their own privacy policies and are responsible for the data they collect once you open them:

  • our store italianpottery.us: italianpottery.us privacy policy
  • Artemest, where some of our pieces are also sold
  • Instagram, Facebook and Pinterest, where we share our work
  • Google Maps, for directions to our showroom and workshop

These are plain links: nothing from these services is loaded on our pages until you click.

7. Your rights

Under the GDPR you can ask us at any time to see the personal data we hold about you, to correct it, to delete it, to limit how we use it or to receive it in a portable format. You can also object to processing based on our legitimate interest and withdraw your consent, without affecting what was done before.

To do so, write to info@ceramichesofia.it. We will reply within one month. If you think we have not handled your data correctly, you can complain to the Italian data protection authority, the Garante per la protezione dei dati personali, or to the authority of the country where you live.

8. Visitors from the United States

Depending on the state where you live, for example California, you may have the right to know what personal information we collect, to ask us to delete or correct it, and to opt out of its sale or sharing. We do not sell your personal information and we do not share it for cross-context behavioral advertising. To make a request, write to info@ceramichesofia.it. We will not treat you differently for using these rights.

9. Children

This website is not aimed at children under 16 and we do not knowingly collect their personal data.

10. Changes to this policy

If the website changes, for example if we add a form or a new service, we will update this page and the date at the top.
